Sledding Fun!

After a week of being sick and inside...the temps were mild here in WNY and the sun was actually out--so we donned the snow gear and headed to the golf course for some sledding. It wasn't busy at all, which is rare, and we had so much fun using our new sleds that we hadn't even opened since Santa brought them!

Dream Dust

wow...what a week. It started a week ago...Anna not feeling good and didn't go to dance, then Sunday, both girls woke up sick, horrible coughs, fevers...lucky for President's Day they had two days off from school, but then Catie went back one day on Wednesday and was out the rest of the week. She ended up with a double ear infection and was up a lot of Wed. night in pain before we got her into doc on Thursday. We even did the probably taboo thing of asking Dr. Ball to check Anna's ears during Catie's checkup, and he nicely did...

But then, Thursday night...pain struck Anna's ears..and that was quite the night of screeching from 1:30 to 4:30 a.m. Wow..rough is an understatement. Our poor honey. I stayed home on Friday to help,, because Rob hadn't gotten home until 2 am after Olympic coverage and was exhausted. I got Anna in to see Dr. Ball and thank goodness we did..because (drum roll...) a day later, double ear infection!

Both girls are feeling better today (Saturday) and I even took them to McDonald's for a little trip outside. Catie had to cancel her Daisy swimming field trip, and that really bummed her out because she was SO looking forward to it. It felt horrible, but water in the ears with an ear infection...I just couldn't let her do it.

Here is a layout I worked on tonight...a favorite bedtime ritual with Anna. I have to collect dream dust from her piggy bank (something i did one night when she was afraid of the shadows) and spread it over her bed to protect her and give her only GOOD dreams. I then tickled her at the end and surprised her, so now EVERY night, she insists on spreading the dream dust with me and I must tickle her under the arms!

Our gift to Matt and Stacey for Olivia's Baptism is this special book...I just ordered it tonight! It is a nice Valentine's Day present! (well, it will come a week or so later, but still...) I am so happy to be able to finally give it to them!

I can't believe Olivia is 6 months old now!

They are coming over, along with mom, tomorrow for my birthday dinner that Rob is making me! A nice Valentine's Day...he is making his mom's antipasto, spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread...and we're having gooey fudge brownies with ice cream and hot fudge for dessert!

I really have to get going with my new Wii Sports Active to get in shape!

The Next American Idol?

Move over Idol wannabes in Hollywood...it's Anna! Ok...doesn't that just make you smile!? This is video Rob took of Anna the other day at lunch...she is singing "Two Voices, One Song" from her "Barbie and the Diamond Castle" DVD that she got from one of her friends at the babysitter for Christmas! I just laugh every time she really gets into the "oh, oh" part of the refrain! What a little ham. She definitely is a good little singer--her high voice is so sweet.

Here is Barbie's version of the song:

There's No Place Like Home

Well..I think fate was on my side this weekend. Alicia and I and a group of our Naz colleagues were supposed to all be in Philadelphia for a big conference for higher education. Alicia and I were actually the co-chairs of the awards, and we've done A LOT OF WORK over the past 6 months--and we aren't even there to celebrate, but the city is also in a state of emergency with 26+ inches of snow!

So, needless to stay...I'm very glad we stayed home. We were supposed to all drive down today, but the snow was horrible, so 3 of the women I work with drove down yesterday, but we couldn't leave that early--hard to pick up and leave with kiddos. Luckily, those that did drive made it safely--and are now in a winter snowglobe. The airport is completely shutdown right now.

Tonight, we had spaghetti and meatballs and Matt and Stacey's house...and Catie and Anna got to spend the night there..their first ever cousins sleepover with Olivia! They were SO excited all day long! Mom and I left the girls watching the movie "Up" and I went over and hung out with my mom..we joked about opening a bottle of wine, but instead, we had some hot cocoa and just chatted....it was fun.

Here are some pics from the cousins sleepover!
