Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie

The girls were SO excited tonight for the Disney Channel premiere of "Wizards of Waverly Place: the Movie!" They made wizard hats and wants last night to get ready for the Friday night fun! We had popcorn, got our pjs on and turned on the tv...and then I discovered that the movie was filmed in Puerto Rico at the exact same resort that Rob and I stayed at when we went last winter! So funny! I called him right away of course, and he was out buying mega millions tickets on his dinner break!

It was fun to see the resort and the beautiful pool and beach. Also "El Morro"--a famous fort in PR...it was really cool to watch!

My mom picked Catie up early from Kathy's today to take her for a haircut to get ready for first grade! It is just under 2 weeks away! (September 9th!) I pulled in the driveway with Anna and and Mom and Catie were playing outside... how cute she looks, huh?

Long Family Fun!

We had a great time this past weekend at Mom and Dad Long's house..with the whole clan there for a summer gathering! It's become a summer tradition. We had a great time and ate way too much! It was hot, and the pool was perfect....and there are lots of birthdays in August! Happy Birthday Thomas, John, Tom (Dad Long), Rachel, Matt, Ryan and Rob! Plus Happy Anniversary Anne and Tom...hope you had a great day!

It is a perfect summer memory...I can't wait to scrap these photos...and this collage is a great starting point!

Happy Birthday Olivia!

She is here! Our niece....sweet little Olivia Brynne-Leigh Gabbey! We got a call from her proud daddy, my brother Matt, at 12:15 a.m. this morning! She was born at 11:59 p.m....so her birthday is August 11th!

She is perfect and beautiful! Wow....what a tiny little sweetheart! Matt and Stacey are going to be great parents...and they are just glowing!

Rob and I visited this morning with my mom...the girls aren't allowed into the birthing center...so they went to Kathy's and will get to meet Olivia as soon as she comes home in the next couple days!

The only bummer is that I didn't get to hold her! Since my shingles medicine was on the last day, I didn't want to chance anything....but we got lots of good pics! Now, I get to make her birth announcement!

BRUUUUUUUUCE!

Just a quick post in honor of new Football HOFer Bruce Smith....#78 with the Buffalo Bills for 15 years! All time leader in sacks in the NFL....one amazing player, and he was induced tonight in Canton, OH! It was fun to watch...it was cool to see all my fav players from those great Superbowl years to be all there to support he and owner Ralph Wilson, who was also inducted.

oh yeah...and while watching...I scrapped a couple of pages!

P.S. Shingles Update: still lingering, but much better! Thank you to all of you! It is awful, I hope my body is immune to it for a LONG time! especially on my face...I look like I'm stuck in a teen acne nightmare. At least the pain is beginning to leave!

A Moment to Remember the 80s

I couldn't let the weekend go by without putting this special little You Tube video on my blog...it is a tribute to the great moviemaker John Hughes who just passed away.

He made pretty much every one of my favorite movies of the 80s that I watched OVER and over again... how do I choose between Sixteen Candles, Pretty and Pink, Breakfast Club, Some Kind of Wonderful, Ferris Bueller's Day Off....and more... if you were a teen of the 80s like me...you'll enjoy it.

10 Things that Make Me Happy

I am SO indebted to my great friend Alicia, who is holding down the fort in a major way at work this week while I am stuck home with the shingles on my face. I read her blog today...and she had a little post of 10 things that make her happy. SO, I thought it would be a good tribute to her to list my ten things that make me happy. I'm just listing them as they pop into my head...no order of importance.

1. My hubby and girls hugs, snuggle and kisses (can't wait until I can kiss them again!)
2. new digi scrap supplies
3. my iphone
4. feeling healthy!
5. a good walk
6. fresh zucchini bars
7. NY sweet corn
8. Sunday and Monday nights with Rob at home (eating ice cream on the couch!)

So, thanks Alicia...I owe you lunch when we are both back at the office after vacations!

A trip to the ER

Well...it turns out my splitting headache had a very real cause...and it wasn't a toothache, like I originally thought either...the past three days, my face kept getting these weird blisters on my jaw, and they kept spreading up the side of my face towards my ear. So not only did I have this shooting pain in my temple, but this weird rash. Today, I couldn't take it anymore, and I called my chiropractor and regular doc's office. Both suspected the same thing when I described it on the phone...SHINGLES, and ding, ding, ding...they were right!

UGH! On my face? I've never heard of that before! Thank goodness it wasn't near my eye, which is very serious... but I look awful! I took a photo for posterity, (project 365) but I won't make you look at my mug here on my blog right now. I'm on medicine for the pain, and also meds for the blisters...and I'm going to have to work from home most of the week. Not very fun at all.

It is the same virus as the chicken pox...which I had as a kid! But I guess it stays dormant in everyone--and stress can cause the virus to come back..lucky me...it made a comeback.

I was really worried about Stacey, because I am not supposed to be near pregnant women, but her doc says she is fine, thank goodness.

So now...let's hope this medicine works quickly. I just want to be back to myself and SOON! :)
